Let me explain what a 2-inch Tsurumi dewatering pump is and is not. It removes unwanted water from wherever you place it. Where that water goes is up to you.
Tsurumi dewatering pumps are not trash pumps but close to it. Dewatering pumps are used in construction sites, farm ditches, flooded basements, waterfalls and fountains, and more.
They can handle round objects up to 2 inches in diameter and will pump sand and stringy stuff. They are not designed to handle sticks, leaves, or food wrappers. For those items you need a trash pump.
A 2-inch Tsurumi dewatering pump is not to be used as a basement sump pump. They are too powerful and too expensive for that use.
Finally, they are not for use as a sewage pump. Just don’t do it.
Chances are, if you are looking for a dewatering pump, you already know it will be effective for your purpose.
All of the USA coastal States have been deluged with very heavy rainstorms causing local flooding.
Some homeowners are keeping their homes dry by pumping water out of their yards during heavy rains. Unfortunately, this is going to be a more common event. It is much less expensive to have a 2-inch Tsurumi dewatering pump ready than to replace everything in a flooded basement.
Of course if water is already in the basement or living room you need to get it out fast and a dewatering pump is the right tool for the job. It won’t be of use for the last two inches of water. For that go with the PANRANO 1HP 3500 GPH Sump Pump that removes water down to 1/25 inch.
However, the Tsurumi Pump LSR2.4S will suck water down to 3/16 inch. See it in the comparison table below.

Two years from the date the unit was first installed or twenty six months from the date of shipment by TSURUMI to wholesaler, whichever comes first.
Tsurumi Dewatering Pump LB-800A For Water Features
This automatic pump has two electrodes that must be touching water for the pump to operate. If one of the electrodes is not touching water, the pump will run for one minute and shut off. If water returns to both electrodes before the minute is over the pump will continue to operate.
This is a great pump for pond water fountains and landscaping waterfalls because the electrodes can’t get snagged or tangled like float ball witches do.
The Tsurumi LB-800 is the same as the Tsurumi LB-800A model except it is manually opererated. This would be a good choice where the power can be turned on or off at a circuit breaker. Just be sure that there is always water available for the pump to opererate.
Pull Water From Ponds, Lakes, and Rivers
For whatever reason you need to pull water froma pond or lake, a dewatering pump will get it done fast. These Tsurumi pumps are built to run continuously under harse conditions.
So, if you are dewatering a lake to fill your pond – go for it!
When I was traveling through India they used the old diesel Lister engine water pumps to pump water from a river to flood the rice fields. Electricity was available but too expensive. So, count your self lucky that you can just plug in a Tsurumi pump when needed.

Tsurumi Pump LSR2.4S Dewatering Pump
There is a lot to like about this 2/3 HP Tsurumi pump. It can do what the other pumps can do. However, it can remove water down to just 3/16 inch.
Because the impeller sits lower than the other Tsurumi dewatering pump choices it will suck up more sediment as it lowers the water level. The drawback is that the filter screen may need cleaning more often than the other pumps.
